WhatsApp suffers global outage: Services are slowly being restored

Update: WhatsApp services appear to be getting back on track. Source: istheservicedown[/caption]Messaging platform WhatsApp appears to be suffering from a major outage.WhatsApp services in Europe, India, Malaysia appear to have been badly hit and even parts of the US and Africa appear to have been affected.Judging by Twitter traffic and information from sites like istheservicedown.com and various news agencies the outage appears to have started in the Europe at around 8 am IST. The downdetector.in outage map suggests that the whole of Europe, large swathes of south India and parts of Asia including Malaysia and Indonesia are affected. Services also seem affected in the US, Mexico, South America and parts of Africa, though not as badly as the rest of the world. Of course, outages like this are also an excuse to have some fun. As one intrepid Twitter user points out…   This one should just about sum up the situation for most of the dedicated WhatsApp users out there… Service outages like this aren’t unheard of and don't last very long, but if the service has indeed been affected since 8 am and appears to be spreading around the globe, the outage is likely to be more serious.But don’t panic. It’s not the end of the world. In fact, now is as good a time as any to switch to a more capable messaging service like Telegram.
