Popular multimedia messaging platform WhatsApp is working to bake Payment options inside the app. According to a new report by WABetaInfo, the latest Beta version of WhatsApp for Android, 2.17.295 has uncovered hints at the upcoming payments feature.[caption id="attachment_1399799" align="alignleft" width="380"]Representational image. The interesting thing to note here is that the screenshot hints at ‘bank to bank transfer with UPI’. UPI is a direct reference to the Unified Payments Interface rolled out by National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).This new development comes months after the company posted that it is looking for a payments expert in the job listing. We are already aware that the company is working on a separate WhatsApp for Business app where small business owners can get in touch with their customers.[caption id="attachment_3912761" align="alignnone" width="825"]Image Credit: WABetaInfo Image Credit: WABetaInfo[/caption]This comes days after WhatsApp synced its business details for the ‘WhatsApp’ channel for ‘Official announcements’ which can also be termed as WhatsApp’s official business account. The company had updated how the app updates and syncs your contact list. Here, if a business contact is verified by WhatsApp then the app will save it in the database so that users don’t have to download the contact details in the future.[caption id="attachment_3912763" align="alignnone" width="825"]Image Credit: WABetaInfo Image Credit: WABetaInfo[/caption]WhatsApp had issued the update after starting its work on a better ‘Storage Manager’ which gives much more detailed information about the contents in any given conversation. This will help you to delete or preserve specific type of data in any given conversation on WhatsApp to reduce the overall backup side. This also ensures that you don’t have to delete everything from any given conversation.
