Tumblr launches live video service in partnership with YouTube and others

Live video is getting very popular these days and woe be any social platform that doesn’t plan to support it. Tumblr has also decided to jump on the live video bandwagon. But in a rather unique, and arguably, friendlier fashion.Unlike live streaming services from the likes of Twitch or Facebook, Tumblr is working on integrating third-party live streaming services within their platform itself. Currently, they’ve partnered with YouTube, YouNow, Kanvas and Upclose and have integrated their streaming platform within Tumblr’s interface.How do you share content? Tumblr says that all you’ll need to do is ensure that your Tumblr account is connected to apps from supported services (YouTube, Kanvas, YouNow and Upclose) and you’ll be able to share a stream or video to Tumblr directly.Tumblr also says that they’re working with the likes of Mashable, MTV, Huffington Post and others to generate live content. When you share a live video on Tumblr, all your followers will receive notifications and will be able to watch the video on your Tumblr page. Any live video will be pinned to the top of your Tumblr feed.
