Torrents-Time takes piracy to the next level with support for in-browser streaming

TorrentFreak reports that Torrents-Time, a fork of the infamous PopcornTime program, has taken piracy to the next level by implementing a system that will let you stream pirated movies directly in your browser via the BitTorrent protocol.For those who don’t remember, PopcornTime was a program that used BitTorrent protocols to let you browse through a torrent database (from sources such as The Pirate Bay) and stream the content directly on your PC. This was, of course, illegal and fierce pressure from the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) managed to shut the service down.However, once the seed of the idea was sown, rogue programmers the world over scrambled to implement various clones of PopcornTime, some reasonably successful, others disastrously bad for privacy. Popcorn-Time.se, one of the last remaining forks still up and running succeeded in implementing an in-browser client that’s compatible with all the popular browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari and IE). You just head over to their site, download the program and install it. Once done, you’ll see a new link next to the download buttons on most torrent sites, as can be seen in the image below. Clicking on the button will open up a new window and streaming starts; it’s that simple.Bear in mind that your ISP can and will track your activities, not to mention the fact that you’re dealing with pirates in the first place and there is no guarantee of the security or integrity of the system being implemented.Earlier forks of PopcornTime used HTTP protocols for streaming and thus, maxxed out their bandwidth pretty fast, rendering the services unusable for most. Torrents-Time’s approach managed to integrate the BitTorrent protocol and thus, peer-to-peer streaming is now just a click away.Of course this service is illegal, but looking at the feature list above, we sincerely wish that other, legal, streaming services would take their cues from Torrents-Time and implement a more sensible streaming solution for their paying customers.
