The Bragi Headphone might be the Apple AirPod alternative that we've been waiting for

The Bragi Dash may have been the first wireless headphones to get us excited, but the Bragi ‘Headphone’ is the one we want.For an AirPod hater, the Bragi Headphone is just what the doctor ordered. Unlike the Dash, which was expensive and featured a fitness tracker and onboard storage for music, the Headphone is a pair of cable-free, wireless earbuds that cost a little less than Apple’s AirPods.The $149 Headphone (around Rs 10,000) offers Bluetooth connectivity, 6 hours of listening time and a mic for taking calls. It’s also got an audio transparency feature that will let you listen to your surroundings without pulling an earbud out of your ear.We do wish that Bragi had gone for a more innovative name than Headphone though.Recent reports suggest that Apple’s AirPods have cornered a whopping 26 percent of the entire wireless headphone market for themselves. If you count Apple’s own Beats Audio, the Apple commands 40 percent of the wireless headphones market.While we do think that it’s unconscionable to spend Rs 15,000 (MRP in India, it's $159 in the US) on Apple’s AirPods when there are far better options available, we have to concede that Apple deserves credit for its implementation of wireless technology.The Bragi Headphone doesn’t use Apple’s W1 chip, but if the Dash is anything to go by, the audio quality should beat Apple’s AirPods any day. And they’re cheaper, if only by a hair.
