Sony Ericsson has just released their SO902iWP+ FOMA stick for NTT DoCoMo in Japan. The phone is waterproof up to 1 meter and can stay submerged for 30 minutes before fizzling out. Now this FOMA phone is obviously Japan-only, which brings me to the question: why isn't SE or any other manufacturer looking at releasing waterproof or water resistant phones in India? The service centers and other mobile phone repair shops all reveal that more phones are brought to them after being accidentally dropped in the water, so there's definitely a huge market. Nokia did have a few phones in the 5-series that were waterproof, but not a lot of other phones in the local market are actually waterproof. And laminating phones is not cool!sony-ericsson-so902iwp-foma-stick-ntt-docomo-waterproof-phone_t.jpg
