Second generation Google Pixel XL leaks out with low bezels and squeezable frame

The second generation of the much anticipated Google Pixel XL has leaked in renders hinting at an improved design. According to an exclusive report by Android Police, the device comes with a low bezel 6-inch AMOLED display with a 2:1 aspect ratio and rounded corners. The screen has a 3D glass effect which doesn’t really mean that the screen is curved but it bends around the edges.The report also claims that Pixel XL will arrive with a squeezable frame similar to the one introduced in HTC U11. Google is likely to use the squeeze functionality in a better way than the implementation by HTC.Renders hint at several changes in the design aesthetics for the second generation Pixel XL in comparison to the first generation Pixel XL. The device will come with sharper corners and the fingerprint scanner has moved below the, now shorter, glass ‘window’ on the back of the device. Also visible is the use of curved 3D glass around on the rear window that wraps around the top edges of the back of the device.[caption id="attachment_388636" align="aligncenter" width="640"]

The report also points out that the Google Pixel's smaller variant  is likely to remain identical to the first generation. The ‘XL’ branding will represent the cutting-edge engineering for the company while the smaller version will work as an entry-level device in the Pixel lineup, which should lower the starting price of Google's premium smartphone lineup.According to previously reported leaks, the unit code-named Taimen will have a bezel-less 5.99-inch 1440p OLED display which will be manufactured by LG. It will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM. It is believed that the phone will have the same glass and metal combo used in the previous Pixel phone alongside a single-lens camera whose specifications have not yet been revealed.Alphabet launched the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL last year after killing the Nexus lineup.
