Samsung updates Galaxy S8 and S8+ to add Google Daydream compatibility

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, the two flagships from the South Korean electronics giant are receiving a new update in coming days. This new update brings the much awaited Google Daydream compatibility to these devices. This means that it will take some days for all the Galaxy S8 and S8+ users to receive the update. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ owners will need Daydream View headset to enjoy the immersive experience to its full capacity. Google had announced the general Daydream support at Google I/O earlier this year. Daydream is Google’s attempt at pushing Virtual Reality into the mainstream.

Unlike Oculus by Facebook or HTC Vive which requires costly hardware, Daydream relies on smartphone makers optimising the devices out of the box to support this functionality where users don’t have to invest in costly high and delicate hardware. They just need to purchase Daydream view so that they can experience the virtual world with their current smartphones. Google Daydream View is on sale on Flipkart for users who want to buy the headset. The interesting thing to note here is that there are only a handful of smartphones that are supporting Daydream.
