Samsung Galaxy S4, Note 3 to get a taste of Android 4.4 KitKat in January 2014

The latest iteration of Google’s mobile OS–Android v4.4 KitKat–is all set to arrive on Galaxy S4 and Note 3 devices. Samsung will be finally updating these high-end devices launched earlier this year, in the early days of 2014. However, it must be noted that there is no official word from the company, but the information comes from French telco SFR, according to a report by SamMobile.

Samsung's take on Android KitKat brings a host of new features to TouchWiz. An enhanced phone dialer will allow easy search for contacts directly from the dial-pad. It will add some cool camera effects such as Posterise, Highlights and Edges to the phone. It also includes a new Draw feature to annotate your photos freehand with your finger.  The all new Hangouts app brings texts, video calls, and other chats all together in one app. Moreover, users can send animated gifs and share their location.

Google has improved the stock Keyboard and also added some new emojis, although Samsung users will be more at home using the company's keyboard than the AOSP one. The camera app has also been revamped. Now the right exposure and focus point can be set by simply dragging their finger on the screen. One can expect an even deeper integration of Google Now. Samsung has its own version of this called S-Voice, though we are not sure if this will be in always-on mode with KitKat.
