Quad-core, 5.5-inch phablet HTC Desire 816 comes to India for Rs 23,990

Along with the HTC One M8 and the low-end Desire 210, HTC also launched a mid-range smartphone to bolster its line-up. Announced at the Mobile World Congress 2014, the HTC Desire 816 has been launched in India for Rs 23,990 and will be available in the coming weeks. Bringing a large screen experience to the mid-range segment, the Desire 816 sports a 5.5-inch display with a 1280x720 pixel resolution. That's very much like the Galaxy Grand 2, which has a smaller 5.2-inch display. It’s powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with 1.5GB of RAM, so one won't be lacking the oomph required to power apps and games. In terms of looks, the HTC Desire 816, has a very minimalist design and is available in a variety of colours, ranging from sober gray, black and white versions to pastel shades of orange, blue and green. It reminds us of the HTC First, the ill-fated Facebook phone. There's no Ultrapixel camera on this Desire phone, as it gets a 13MP rear snapper and a 5MP front-facing camera, which is one of the best options in this price range. All of this is fuelled by a 2600mAh battery, which really sounds ideal given the other specs. One can expect day-long battery life on this phone. The 8GB onboard storage can be expanded further via microSD card slot. In terms of connectivity, you will get Wi-Fi802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. The Desire 816 also features HTC BoomSound speakers so you can expect top-notch loudspeaker output.
