Talks indicating a Nokia PureView Lumia smartphone had been circulating ever since the Finnish company raised the curtains on their Symbian-powered 808 PureView smartphone. But there was no definite answer regarding the same, back then. Now, however, in an interview with Howard Forums, the President of Nokia U.S, Chris Webber confirmed this as true and added, “You can expect we'll be bringing PureView technologies to the Windows Phone platform in future Lumia devices."gigantic 41 megapixels sensor

Technology definitely coming to Lumia smartphones

In a report by The Verge, the author, Tom Warren states, “Webber doesn't say when PureView Lumia devices will arrive, but he reveals Nokia is working with Microsoft "to make sure their platform supports the broad set of things we want to do with PureView imaging." Nokia is "absolutely committed" to bringing PureView to Windows Phone, says Webber. Discussing Windows Phone's low market share, Webber also says he feels the platform has had a "great start" but that it's up to Nokia and Microsoft to push this in future — something we'll likely see in the form of more exclusive apps.”

In April, sources as well as analysts had stated that Windows Phone as a platform is just not ready at the moment to support all the hardware as well as processing requirements for PureView-like technology. As to when the PureView Lumia handsets would be launched - one can expect them to be unveiled in a year’s time, the earliest.

A later report suggested that Nokia was working on other Symbian PureView handsets, with slimmer models also being a possibility, while still retaining the high-end Zeiss optics and Nokia's oversampling techniques, thereby avoiding the need for optical zoom. However, if one is expecting all the devices to feature this 41 Megapixel sensor that is loaded on the 808 PureView, then they may be in for a bit of disappointed, as the company may launch the smartphones with different optics.
