The big Pinterest redesign last month had a lot of regular users up in arms over the unavailability of certain much-loved features. The social networking website has announced over the weekend that it has taken user feedback into consideration and has brought back certain features like being able to see a pin after pinning it and being able to mention friends using the “@” function.

Veteran Pinterest users can go back to being able to view a pin on their board using the “See it now” button. The feature was a very often used one and was one of the most demanded one in the feedback. Users can now also mention friends in a pin, urging them to check the contents out. Pretty much a standard feature on most social networking websites today, it’s surprising that Pinterest would not add them in the first place. To mention a friend, you only need to type “@” before their name and share a pin with them. The See it now button is back!

The Facebook and Twitter connect is back too. You can now see which of your friends from Facebook and Twitter are on Pinterest, while connecting with them. Another old feature that Pinterest has added back is the “pinned from” one. “Lots of you told us you missed the “via” feature, because it helped you find other people with tastes like yours. Now when you click on a pin, you can see who it was pinned from,” reads the blog.

The new update has something for everyone, it would seem. Pinterest has gone on to improve certain existing features too. The Recent Activity area has received a refresh. It’s now located in the upper right corner of your Pinterest page. It’s never too late to give out search suggestions, and Pinterest has jumped onto the bandwagon. Now as you start to type a word, Pinterest will give you suggestions, enhancing your discovery on the site. Coming soon is a feature that will tell you when new pins have been added to your home feed. The new notification centre is on the upper right

The social networking website is also mulling making features like the ability to re-arrange boards, add boards within boards and an alert system that lets you know when you’ve already added a pin to your board before. These, the blog says, are tricky to be made to work for everyone, but the site is still going through suggestions.

In case you haven’t already been admitted to the new-look Pinterest, you can click on the “Get it now” button located at the top of your home feed and join in.
