OnePlus 5 model name confirmed by China Regulatory Authority

Thanks to a Chinese regulator, we can now call OnePlus' next handset, the OnePlus 5. Yes, the name has finally been confirmed after much speculation, where fans wondered if the next handset would be called the OnePlus 4 or the OnePlus 5.The news comes from Android Pure. The blog post showcases a screenshot obtained by gaotangwang.com of a new smartphone that surfaced on the China Radio Regulation Authority's website. The handset was confirmed as the OnePlus 5 with the model number listed as A5000.It is easy to make the connection here. The OnePlus 3 was called the A3000 while the OnePlus 3T which arrived later with upgraded hardware was tagged as the A3010.While the name has been confirmed, there's is not much that has been revealed through the listing as it is mainly to do with the wireless bands of a device. The validity of this license appears to be until 31, December 2018.So indeed the rest of the details regarding this upcoming flagship will continue to be based on leaks and rumours.Chinese outlet called PC Pop said that the upcoming OnePlus smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch 2K resolution display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, and 23 MP rear-facing camera. It will also come with a revamped design. The new design will include minimal front bezels which could potentially mean that the fingerprint scanner could be moved to the back like many other Android smartphones.There is a possibility that OnePlus will not change the front capacitive Android navigation buttons, along with the ability to enable on-screen buttons. Considering we saw 6 GB of RAM on the OnePlus 3 and 3T, we could be seeing similar or even 8 GB RAM on the upcoming model.
