Ending the speculation, Microsoft today announced its official “recommended” hardware requirements for the upcoming Windows Vista operating system. To run Vista Premium, which includes the Windows Aero experience, the machine will have to have at least a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a DirectX 9-capable 3D graphics system, either onboard or add-on . If not, The new Aero compatibility mode will let you view some of Vista's new eye candy, such as fancy transparent menus and a slick-looking 3D GUI. Minimum requirements for the basic version of Vista are an 800 MHz CPU and 512MB of RAM.
