New iPhone 6 models made more people switch to Apple than ever before

At the earnings call, Tim Cook spoke about Apple's most stellar quarter wherein the company sold 74.5 million devices. Apple's newest large screen iPhone models - iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus - were launched last year, and everyone has been wondering which one has turned out to be more popular. On asking a similar question in terms of revenue at the earnings call, CEO Tim Cook declined to provide specific numbers, but he did mention that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 was more popular.However, he did mention that it the popularity differed based on geographical coordinates. For instance, in Asia the larger iPhone 6 Plus was more popular. We're really proud of them, along with the iPhone 5s and 5c, " Cook told Macrumours.Interestingly, he also mentioned how the new iPhone 6 models are responsible for bringing the highest Android switcher rate in the last three years. He further added that there is a lot of scope for growth as only a small fraction of existing iPhone users have upgraded to the new device.Cook further disclosed that the new devices have been getting a great feedback for quality of products and the iPhone growth in emerging markets has been "stunning". He expects more people to buy the iPhone 6 in the second quarter of 2015.This quarter has been spectacular for Apple. The quarterly results smashed Wall Street expectations with record sales of big-screen iPhones in the holiday shopping season and a 70 percent rise in China sales, powering the company to the largest profit in corporate history.The company sold 74.5 million iPhones in its fiscal first quarter ended 27 December, while many analysts had expected fewer than 70 million. Revenue rose to $74.6 billion from $57.6 billion a year earlier.Tim Cook also disclosed that the Apple Watch will start shipping in April. But unlike Apple fans, Tim Cook doesn’t have to wait a couple of months to get his hands on the watch. In fact, he was wearing one and revealed that he is hooked to the wearable.
