Naughty Dog has revealed a new character for its upcoming narrative-heavy game, The Last of Us. The new character is named Tess. According to the PlayStation Blog, she is the partner for the main character – Joel. Tess is described on the PlayStation blog as strong, smart and street savvy. She is going to be a pivotal character in the world of The Last of Us.  She is voiced by Annie Wersching of 24 fame. Naughty Dog has released a trailer that shows the motion capture for Tess.

Recently, the company had released a story trailer for The Last of Us. Naughty Dog has also let it slip that the game will feature multiplayer. Pre-ordering the game will get you the Sights and Sounds pack, which includes the official soundtrack of the game, a dynamic theme for the PlayStation 3 featuring the cover art and two avatars for your PSN profile—Winter Joel and Winter Ellie.

The multiplayer was revealed through the pre-order bonuses for GameStop, which features the Survival Pack. This includes bonus experience points for multiplayer, a multiplayer melee attack booster, extra in-game cash to start out with, special customisable character items for multiplayer and two bonus skins for Joel and Ellie, which are unlocked after completing the single player campaign.

Ellie will need to learn to survive

The company had released a teaser trailer earlier this month. The only thing we currently know about the story is that it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where a deadly plague has wiped out civilisation, mutating the survivors into zombie-like creatures. You play as one of two characters – Ellie, a spunky American teenager, or Joel, a hardened survivor – as they try and survive each day by scavenging ammunition and supplies. According to Naughty Dog, the game will blend survival-horror with action to create a "genre defining experience".

The company also released a playthrough of the demo it displayed during this year's PAX Prime. The video showed the stealth gameplay, some of the puzzles and a little bit of the combat segments, including what looks like a scripted event where an enemy takes a gun from your hand and captures you.

Naughty Dog has previously worked on and gained massive fame for the Uncharted series. One of the flagship games for Sony’s PlayStation 3, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, has been out for quite some time now. The game was one of the biggest hits of 2011 and bagged multiple Game of the Year awards. Sony has re-released the game in a “Game of the Year” edition, which contains all the downloadable content (DLC) released for the game.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
