Music Beta by Google Likely to be Unveiled Today

A month ago, we reported about Google plans of launching a cloud-based music service that would pit Google against the popular retail brand Amazon’s music service. Although we wished it were true, we couldn’t help but pass it off as highly speculative. However, it now seems as though Google was serious about its plans and today at the I/O Developer’s Conference will launch the cloud-based music service.

The new music service called Music Beta by Google, like Amazon, will allow users to store music online. However, the stark difference between the two music services is the fact that unlike on Amazon where users can upload their music that they have purchased on Amazon; Google has no licenses in place with the music labels and hence does not permit users to download songs.

Users can only listen to their favorite tracks on their music devices via the music streaming online. They will also be able to listen to tracks via Google’s music service on their Android phones, tablets and, or computers.
