More rumours of a 4-inch iOS device surface
We previously reported that Apple was looking to rope in Sharp to produce displays for their upcoming iPad.

Sony and Hitachi to produce iPhone 5 displays?
The website states that according to an Asian source, Hitachi Displays, Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have started shipping 4-inch LCD for new iOS device and LCD for iPad 3. These 2 companies will be merging their businesses with Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd., and will be collectively known as "Japan Display" in the spring of 2012. In all likelihood, it appears that the device in
question is the iPhone 5.
If Apple does intend to increase the size of the display, they may lose their Retina Display. However, if the brand intends to increase the display size, then they would have to keep their resolution at 640 x 960, thus reducing the pixel density. Going a little deeper into the concept of Retina Display, it is basically the pixel density along with the distance of the iPhone to the eyes. The brand can state that they can retain the Retina Display, if it is held at a slightly further from the eyes. We will have to just wait and see what Apple does to satisfy consumers.
As with all things Apple, rumours will continue to mount till the day of a product announcement.
