Microsoft working on Surface 2's successor: Report

Microsoft is all set to bring back the successor to its Surface 2 that was launched in 2013. According to Winbeta, Microsoft is planning to launch a successor to the Surface 2 soon, but it won’t be a Windows RT based device.The device is expected to be fanless with either Intel Atom or Intel Core M based processor and will run a full-version of Windows. "This is a first for the non-pro Surface line-up, and further solidifies reports regarding the death of Windows RT," adds the report.Microsoft is expected to launch the successor to the Surface 2 before or at the BUILD conference (which is expected to be held from April 29 to May 1). Initially, it will come pre-installed with Windows 8.1, and later upgradable to Windows 10.Last year the company announced Surface Pro 3, but the Surface 2 successor is likely to be marketed as  non-pro device. It will come pre-loaded with Windows 8.1, but upgradeable to Windows 10.The company has been planning to upgrade non-pro Surface devices, giving them a full upgrade to Windows 10. Besides, the BUILD conference is also expected to showcase the company's new Lumia flagship and more about the capabilities of the Hololens.
