LG India has scheduled the launch of its G5 modular, flagship smartphone on 1 June. The launch will take place in Gurgaon and the smartphones that are available for pre-order on Flipkart will also begin shipping on the same day.LG G5 made waves as the first production modular smartphone back at the MWC in Barcelona that took place in February this year. Tehe smartphone is made out of separate components, which enables users to replace or upgrade certain functions independently. The LG G5 comes with a new design, and a metal uni-body contruction with the bottom end of the smartphone that can be opened up to hook up the add on accessories.
On the specs front, the G5 features a 5.3-inch QHD display with 1440 x 2560 pixels of resolution, Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB built-in storage and 2800mAh battery. On the camera front, you get a 16MP (regular) and 8MP (wide-angle) rear cameras. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, USB Type-C port that is compatible with USB 3.0 standard, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.The add-on accessories include a camera grip called the LG Cam Plus, a B&O approved sound system and more. For now it cannot be confirmed as to which add-ons will be available for purchase at launch.The smartphone can be pre-booked at a list price of Rs 52,990 from 21 May to 30 May at mobile stores, LG brand shops and online on Flipkart. Customers who pre-book LG G5, will get the companion device, LG Cam Plus free with the smartphone.
