Is there a Facebook Hate button in the works?

The Internet is full of diverse opinions and when social networking was born, these opinions became more and more clear. When Facebook launched their now popular 'Like' button, much like founder Mark Zuckerberg had predicted (that it would reach 1 billion in the first 24 hours), the button got very popular and now stands at a staggering  2.7 billion Likes. Now, TechCrunch reports that a Hate button may very well be in the offing, and also goes on to add that much like the Like button, Facebook predicts this one to get popular, too. In fact, Facebook has predicted that the Hate button will outdo (read double) the Like button in popularity. Incidentally, and this is something that has been established by studies conducted by Facebook, that the Internet has far more dislikable things, than there are likable things.

All things said, there is no confirmation about the Hate button actually seeing the light of the day; but many within Facebook believe that a Hate button would sit quite right on Facebook’s mission to “build tools to help people connect with the people they want and share what they want”, since sharing is just about the things one loves. Folks at Facebook, in fact are still undecided on what the button will eventually be called, if it does make it to the website - dislike or hate. Reportedly, there are a few contending buttons, too, which may be implemented on the site in the future, these include -  “Meh”, “Love”, “Who Cares”, and “+11".

Facebook now proudly sits atop a 850 million stonghold, and this number is only going to increase further. Just today, we reported about Facebook Mobile coming with support for 8 Indian languages in order to make the social network more accessible to more people in the country, which incidentally happens to be its second largest market (U.S is first).
