The Micromax Andro A60 is already out and Intex’s Rs. 5,500 Android phone is expected next month, but Huawei has launched a pre-emptive strike by releasing the Ideos, an Android-powered phone as well, in India at Rs. 8,499.

Hopefully we won't be saying Adios to this one soon

The phone is being released in partnership with Aircel and the price will include a free 2GB data download plan in case the buyer decides to go with a postpaid connection when purchasing. And while the price might not be as low as the aforementioned Micromax and Intex phones, the Ideos definitely has the chance to be better value-for-money wise, because it has some pretty decent specs. They are as follows:

  • 2.8-inch Capacitive Touchscreen at 320x240
  • 3.2 Megapixel Camera
  • 528MHz processor
  • Android 2.2 Froyo – a Vanilla version
  • MicroSD slot for expandable memory upto 32GB
  • 3G and HSDPA connectivity
  • Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
In addition to this, the Ideos will also function as a Wi-Fi router for upto eight devices at a time, which is something we'd definitely like to check out. Anyway, the Huawei Ideos is available for purchase starting immediately at retailers or Aircel Stores. Now where’s that Huawei X5?
