HP unveils new range of Ultrabooks, tablets and All-in-Ones

HP has launched six new products in its touch-based line-up of devices, including notebooks and All-in-One (AIO) PCs. These include the SlateBook x2, the Split x2, the Envy Rove, the Pavilion 11, the Envy TouchSmart 14 Ultrabook and the Slate 21 All-in-One.

Both the SlateBook x2 and the Split x2 are detachable devices. While usually functioning as notebooks, the screen can be removed and used as a tablet. Both of the devices use magnetic hinges. The SlateBook x2 runs on Android, while the Split x2 runs on Windows 8.

The SlateBook x2 has a 10.1-inch display. It has a dual-battery setup, with a battery pack in the keyboard, allowing it to stay alive longer when connected to the keyboard. It runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and comes pre-installed with Google’s suite of apps, including Google Now, Gmail and YouTube. Under the hood, it runs on a Tegra 4 chip, and as a result, it comes pre-installed with Nvidia’s Tegra-zone game store. The SlateBook x2 has up to 64GB of storage and the sound is handled by DTS Sound+. It costs Rs 39,990 and is available from today.

Convertible Slatebook 10 X2 runs on Android

The Split x2 has a 13-inch display and is powered by an Intel Core chip. Thanks to the x86 architecture of the chip, it runs on Windows 8. Audio on the Split x2 is handled by Beats Audio. Much like the SlateBook x2, the Split x2 has a dual-battery setup with a battery pack in the keyboard as well as the tablet. The Split x2 also has a 2 megapixel HP TrueVision full HD webcam and the HP ClickPad for multitouch and gesture controls. It is priced at Rs 64,990 and will be available from August onwards.

HP's Envy X2...

The new All-in-One, dubbed the Envy Rove, has a touchscreen and runs on Windows 8. The monitor can also be used as a tablet, giving it better portability, but still not as much as a real tablet. It uses multitouch technology to let more than one person play touch-based games like Fingertapps, JigsWar Puzzle and Monopoly on it at the same time.

It has a 20-inch IPS display and is powered by a 4th generation Intel Core processor. The graphics are handled by the on-board Intel HD chip. Audio is handled by Beats Audio. It costs Rs 69,990.

The new Ultrabook—the Pavilion 11 TouchSmart—has a 11.6-inch display with up to 10-point finger gesture support. It runs on Windows 8. It costs Rs 31,990.

AIO Rove with 20-inch display

The Envy TouchSmart 14 is another Ultrabook and HP claims that it can run up to nine hours on its battery. It is equipped with dual speakers and a subwoofer. Thanks to a discrete Nvidia GPU, this Ultrabook seems to be the best of the new line-up for gaming. It is priced at Rs 64,990.

The HP Slate 21 is the last of the lot. The AIO has a detachable 21-inch display that can be used as a tablet. When connected to the main computer part, it runs on Windows 8. However, when detached, it runs on Android. It has features like TrueVision HD webcam and Wi-Fi Direct. It runs on a Tegra 4. The Slate 21 costs Rs 24,990 and will be launched on August 15.
