Google Now gets more voice commands, live TV card

Google has released an update for the Google Search app that is bound to make Jelly Bean users a happier lot. The update, packed with goodies includes a couple of new voice search features as well.

Using one of the new voice commands, you will now be able to get Google Now to play music from your library or via Google Play. We tried the new card out and besides the voice recognition not getting the right words initially, the feature works really well. In case you’re having a tough time remembering all those voice commands, the service will now offer you voice action tips to help you out.

Google Now has been given a new card for live television with this update. If you have an Internet connected TV, this Now card can help you figure out more information about the show you’re watching or the cast and crew. To use the live TV card, connect your Android device to the same network as the TV and tap on 'Listen for a TV show' in Google Now. It will throw at you information regarding the show and where you’ve seen the cast before, amongst other information.

The Play Music voice command works well

“So if you were watching Nik Wallenda cross the Grand Canyon this weekend, with Google Now, you could learn that the ‘King of the Wire’ in fact holds seven Guinness World Records, including highest bike ride on a high-wire,” explains the Android team in a Google+ post. The live TV card, though, is currently available in the US only.

Another new card Google is bringing along will automatically give you information about any saved Google Offers when you’re around a store.
