Google is rolling out new cast functionality in Chrome browser

Google is changing the way the cast function works in the Chrome browser. Users will no longer need to download and install the Cast toolbar, as the casting component is baked right into the browser build itself. The option to use Google Cast is now available in the browser options menu itself, although the Cast toolbar can still be installed to give one click access to the cast functionality.The settings options for quality of the streaming has been changed. Initially, it was required to configure bitrate, resolution and other quality settings manually. Now, Cast can automatically change the settings depending on the kind of content being casted, and the quality of the network. There is no way to set these options manually now, even if one wants to. The feature works better with Cast optimised content, such as YouTube or Netflix, with more options available for control over the cast.Another added feature is the ability to cast to cloud services, including Hangouts from Chrome. The casting option shows a scheduled Hangouts, as well as Hangouts the user is a part of. The browser window can be mirrored directly into that Hangout. Casting to other cloud services are expected to be added with time, Hangouts is the only one supported out of the box. The latest version of the browser, and a sign in to Chrome are required for these features to work.
