Fitness-focussed Samsung Galaxy Band could be the Gear's successor
Galaxy Gear hasn't been a storming success for Samsung. Can the rumoured Band change that?

Samsung Galaxy Gear has been in news for all wrong reasons, ever since it was announced. Looks like, Samsung isn’t ready to give up on smartwatches yet though. We know that an improved version of the Gear is already on its way. Now, Techradar reports that the new smartwatch would be branded as the Galaxy Band and would focus on fitness.

Will Samsung ditch the Gear's bulky exterior for a smaller bracelet?
Samsung will possibly introduce the fitness band at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona in February. Galaxy Club reveals that the company has a patent published for the wristband. It is expected to come with a flexible display and could be called the Galaxy Band. The patent doesn’t show a camera or mic, leaving it with just a display for notifications and fitness monitor.
In September, Samsung launched the Galaxy Gear in India for Rs 22,990. Functionality was limited at launch but it is now capable of showing users notifications from all apps on their phone. It also lets you access some features of your smartphone, without the need to pull it out of your pocket. Check out our initial impressions of the Gear for more information on how it works.
