Firefox 6 Almost Out for Public

Firefox, the popular web browser has gone through a rapid release cycle. Firefox 5 was released, a few weeks back and news about the new version 6 is doing rounds, too. The browser is currently in its beta stages and a release candidate build is expected sometime next week. It won’t be long before the final release comes out. According to the schedule, the stable and the final release of Firefox 6 should come out sometime in mid-August. The new rapid release cycle means that there aren’t many major changes to the functionality of the browser, but the release will comprise of many small fixes and optimizations.Version 6 soon, Version 7 before end of year

Currently, users can download Firefox 6 Beta 3 from beta build download page. The release candidate will almost be the final release. Only minor bug fixes will be made. Meanwhile, coders at Mozilla are already working on Firefox 7 and nightly builds are available through the Aurora channel. If you want to get an idea of what Firefox 7 will look like, download the latest Aurora channel build. Mozilla has also been at work on the Firefox browser for mobiles. It hasn’t seen the same kind of interest as the desktop versions. Firefox for Mobile still has a long way to go before it catches Opera Mini.
