ExtraTorrent shuts down for good, takes down mirrors and erases all data
Visitors of the site are now greeted with a farewell message, accompanied by a warning to not fall for fake sites and clones.
It is the end of the road for one of the most popular torrent sites around, ExtraTorrent. The decision appears to be sudden, and a pre-emptive move against activities by law enforcement agencies. Visitors to the site are now greeted with a farewell message, accompanied by a warning to not fall for fake sites and clones. The web site was popular because of its HD content and regularly updated catalogue of television shows.
Previous high profile shut downs of torrent sites include Kickass Torrents and Torrentz. The fates of the release groups associated with ExtraTorrent is unclear, but according to a report in TorrentFreak, the release groups may continue to be active if they receive adequate funding. The homepage has been blocked in India by the Department of Telecom. In August 2016, Indian users visiting torrent sites were warned of the possibility of a three year jail term for consuming pirated content.

Ask questions here. from DemonoidP2PIn the wake of the sudden shutdown, Demonoid has stepped forward to welcome the "refugees" exiting from ExtraTorrent. Demonoid started giving away invites to ex-ExtraTorrent users on Reddit, and has welcomed the entire user base except for those who consume and seed "adult content". Demonoid is a clean tracker in the sense that it does not host download links to pornographic material. Demonoid is a public tracker, and works on a semi-open invite system, and features a forum for the community. After the takedown of Kickass Torrents, the community around the site and the original keepers, managed to resurrect the site.
