EA’s favourite game engine – Frostbite 3 – is getting a variant design to run on mobile devices. According to the official Frostbite website, the mobile version of the engine will be called Frostbite Go. EA describes it as "a mobile division empowering EA game developers with Frostbite's proven excellent workflows and features to bring true Frostbite experiences to all major mobile platforms."

The website also talks about mobile platforms at other places. iOS and Android are mentioned by name. "Efficiency in both our runtime memory and runtime performance are both key factors to enabling code and data systems to deploy content to diverse targets from Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 to iOS and Android."Games running on the Forstbite engine on mobiles obviously won't look like Battlefield 4

It also says, "Frostbite games are currently in development for current and future platforms including mobile devices."

The Frostbite engine seems to be quite versatile. Back in April, a job listing by DICE hinted at development of Frostbite 3 to the Oculus Rift.

"The master thesis will focus on next generation VR technology and how to best implement support in video games," the job description reads. "This requires adding basic support in existing technology. Other areas of interest include modifications to better fit first person games, reducing latency, stereoscopic issues."

The latest game to use the Frostbite engine is the upcoming multiplayer-focused modern military shooter Battlefield 4. Other games that are going to use the engine include the next game in BioWare’s fantasy RPG epic – Dragon Age 3: Inquisition and the next game in the sci-fi RPG epic – Mass Effect.

Ever heard of one of those people who just never seem to shut up about something? Shunal is like the nerd equivalent of that guy. Believe us when we say that he can go on talking about games and smartphones for hours on end. We do manage to find some insight in his insane ramblings though, and through his moronic facade, he does seem to know more than he lets on. Sadly enough, it always ends up being about gaming with him. Or stupid, stupid puns.
