Digg Reader now accessible on mobile web browser

If you've been itching to use the popular Digg Reader on your non-iOS device, here's some great news for you. Digg Reader has been optimised for mobile web browsers now and it can be accessed at digg.com/reader. The service also includes full support for embedded HTML5 media from YouTube, SoundCloud, et al. Before giving it a try, though, note that the mobile web browser version of Digg Reader is in beta right now; hence, there are chances that it won’t work on some devices. “Future updates will bring the mobile web experience closer to feature-parity with our other apps, and will expand support for more devices and operating systems,” Digg explains. Users can tweak their Settings now to view feeds and folders with unread items.

A rather big update has been served to the Digg Reader iOS app too. It is already live on the App Store.

The social news website has introduced the “Popular” section to Reader that allows iOS users to sort their feeds in order of their popularity across the web. The app has also received the ability to let users view only unread items in any Reader feed; this feature was introduced to the web version of the service recently. Feeds feature a simple pull-down menu now, where users can toggle between All and Unread-only views.

iOS users can now turn on a new setting now to view only folders and feeds with unread items in the app and delete feeds and folders directly in the app. The updated iOS app features added support for Readability and better scrolling performance in addition to all of the above.

For those awaiting the launch of the Android variant of the Digg Reader app, Digg's Andrew reveals that it'll be here very soon.
