Dell XPS 15 now comes with Intel’s new six-core CPUs and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

Computer giant Dell has just announced the launch of its latest Dell XPS 15 line up with a number of upgrades. The company has packed the latest six-core Coffee Lake H-series CPUs in the latest refresh to the XPS 15 that Intel announced yesterday.[caption id="attachment_4417725" align="alignleft" width="380"] Dell XPS 15 2-in-1. Image: Dell[/caption]The base model of the XPS 15 comes with the Intel Core i5-8300H CPU and integrated graphics at a price of $999. Dell also gives users the option to pack in Core i9 processor along with GTX 1050 Ti GPU from Nvidia and 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD in the top end model.Interested buyers can also choose to have the more mainstream Intel Core i7-8750 H if Core i9 is overkill both for the performance as well as the budget.Dell claims that the six-core system will result in “up to 88 percent” increase in overall performance when compared to previous generations. There is no change in the external design of XPS 15 with a similar 15.6-inch screen with 1920x1080 or 4K resolution, both with 400 nits brightness and touch panel option available when it comes to the higher resolution display.[caption id="attachment_4417729" align="alignnone" width="1280"] Dell XPS 15. Image: Dell[/caption]Moving to the battery section, the laptop packs a 56 WHr battery on the low-end variant and a 97 WHr battery on the higher-end variant. The company claims that users “can get up to 21.5 hours of battery” backup on one of these laptops.XPS 15 also comes with two USB 3.1 ports, HDMI 2.0, SD card slot, 3.5-mm headphone jack, a Thunderbolt 3 port with “a four-lane implementation.” Dell has upgraded the Thunderbolt 3 port from the previous two PCIe lane implementation limiting the bandwidth to almost half.The storage options range from 128 GB SSD along with 1 TB hard drive, a 1 TB hybrid storage drive or from 256 GB to 1 TB SSD configuration. Pre-orders for the new Dell XPS will start from 16 April.Dell has also launched the XPS 15 2-in-1 that it revealed at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year. The difference between the XPS 15 and the XPS 15 2-in-1 is that the 2-in-1 packs 8th generation of Intel Core processors along with a discrete AMD Radeon RX Vega M GPU embedded on the same silicon as the Intel CPU. The pricing of the 2-in-1 starts from $1,299.99 and it is available for purchase and the Black one will be going on sale from May 2018 onwards. This comes just a day after Intel announced the launch of its Core i9 six-core CPU for laptops.
