DC Comics has announced two new digital comic formats that it will be letting users access. These new formats will let you unravel the comics' artwork as you tap on the screen or let you make all-important decisions during key moments of the comic that will take you through different storylines.

DC Entertainment's President Diane Nelson and Co-Publisher Jim Lee unveiled the DC²and DC² Multiverse at the opening of Time Warner's "The Future of Storytelling" exhibition at the Time Warner Medialab in New York.

Choose your character's fate

With DC², comic book fans will be able to experience "dynamic" storytelling by clicking on the story to bring it to life. The format will debut with the highly-anticipated digital-first Batman '66 that is based around the 60's television show version of the comic-book character, played by Adam West. "Readers will experience an expanded storytelling canvas as each comic panel tells a multi-dimensional story through layered artwork and sequences.," wrote DC.

Similarly, DC² Multiverse seems like an exciting format wherein you will be able to determine the outcome of the stories by choosing between options that will appear during crucial junctures of the story. Every chapter in the comic could have dozens of possible outcomes when you select individual characters, storylines and plot developments

Digitial-first title Batman: Arkham Origins, based on Warner Bros upcoming game, will be the first comic to be given the DC² Multiverse treatment. The format will include the ability to integrate a soundtrack, while allowing you to choose the story's fate.

DC Comics had started the same-day digital method of making comics popular about two years ago. The idea was to release print and digital versions of the comic on the same day, making it accessible to a wider variety of audience. These new formats are only going to add to the charm of the digital comics.
