Countdown clock for 808 PureView wound up, preorders begin

With one major smartphone launches out of the way now, all eyes have turned to the Finnish camp. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been a lot of reports surfacing as to when the Nokia 808 PureView would be launched and at what price the device would be sold. However, our sources at Nokia had informed us that the exact date of launch is not known yet and that the price has not yet been finalized. However, the brand has begun with their campaign and have put up a site with a countdown clock indicating how much time it is before the the pre-launch activities will begin. Apart from the countdown clock on their official website, Nokia have also put up a page allowing one to pre-order the smartphone.

In the past, there has been a lot of back and forth surrounding the launch of the Nokia 808 PureView with many websites claiming that it had already been launched. However, Nokia have rubbished these claims and had stated that it will be unveiled in India soon. It is widely believed that India and Russia will be the first countries to receive the handset and it will be rolled out to the rest of the world, later.

Also, another point of discussion is the price of the handset, with online retailers selling it at a price of Rs.32,000, while other websites claim that it will be available in the market at a price of Rs.29,999. The latter price falls in line with the leaked information that surfaced a while back, which showed a page listing the price as Rs.29,999.

Whatever the price may be, we are sure all will be revealed in the next few days. We had the opportunity to play around with a prototype of this handset and it left us more than impressed. The phone supports 1080p recording at 30fps, time interval shooting (for timelapse videos), instant sharing to Facebook, 38 megapixel shots and an option to choose between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. With the PureView, Nokia also introduced lossless digital zoom and it worked like a charm on the phone.
