CeBIT 2007: Samsung Shows Q1 Ultra UMPC

The UMPC platform seems to be going through a mini-revival phase at CeBIT this year. First it was Asus who announced an update to their UMPC release, and now it's Samsung who is demonstrating the upgrade to its Q1 which was released last year.

The upgraded model simply called Q1 Ultra offers significantly upgraded features. The new revised edition, has a 7-inch touch screen with a native resolution of 1024x600, 1 GB of system memory and will offer 60 GB of storage space. The Q1 Ultra will also feature a split QWERTY thumb pad, a 0.3 MP webcam on the front side that can be used for video conferencing, a 1.3 MP digital camera at the back and a fingerprint sensor. The Q1 Ultra will not only offer the standard Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Ethernet jacks but will also have support for emerging technologies like HSDPA and WiBRO.

The new Q1 Ultra will also get an OS upgrade ,as it will now run on Windows Vista and will be the first of the 'Vistagammi' products, Microsoft had promised way back in May last year. The exact price of the Q1 ultra remains unknown as of now with industry sources putting it anywhere between 899 US$ and 1299 US$.
