Battery of iPhone that came in for repair explodes at an Apple Store in Spain, no injuries reported

Apple has been under fire for the past few weeks owing to its confession that it is actively slowing down older iPhone models to prevent unwanted shutdowns. Now it looks like some real fire is also at play as, reportedly, after an iPhone battery burst into flames at Apple's store in Zurich another one has caught fire in Valencia, Spain. iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.[/caption]An AppleInsider report states that the battery caught fire while it was being repaired, so at least it's not a case of spontaneous combustion, as it was with the notorious Note 7. We don't know the model of the affected iPhone but fortunately, there were no injuries as the store was evacuated in time.Apple is at the centre of multiple class-action lawsuits from at least three more countries other than the US for its iPhone throttling scandal. Two cases of batteries catching fire only worsens the situation Apple finds itself in.Although analysts have mostly defended Apple's strategy as a way to make older iPhones last longer, some regulators and many consumers believe the company has been manipulating the way aging devices work to spur sales of its latest — and more expensive — models.Consequently, Apple has offered $50 off on all battery replacements for iPhones and has also promised a software update in early 2018 which will give users more visibility into the health of their iPhone's battery. Let's just hope that no more batteries explode.
