Apple to hold separate iPhone event in China on September 11

After sending out invites for the September 10 event, news has it that the Cupertino Company plans a special iPhone event for the Chinese media. Sina Techm, Chinese media outlet reveals that it has received an invite from Apple. It is similar to the “colourful” invite sent out to media houses in the US, but focuses only on the Chinese media, with a separate iPhone event to be held on September 11.

The event begins at 10 AM CST at Beijing’s World Trade Center. It’s for the first time that the company has announced such an event in China. In fact, it is believed that Apple has begun focusing on the region more than ever. The company also plans to build an engineering R&D center in Taiwan. The "event" announcement has led to a wide range of speculation.

Separate iPhone event in China

Some believe that Apple plans to announce its new partner China Mobile for the Chinese market, and hence the separate event. The new partnership is likely to give it access to some 744 million potential customers. Another reason for the event is speculated to be the setbacks Apple has been facing for the past one year from Chinese government’s media agencies, which apparently prefer local tech companies over others. Moreover, Apple’s China business suffered in the last quarter.

Yet another and the most obvious reason is the budget iPhone 5C that Apple plans to launch in Android-dominated emerging markets like China and India. The announcement further hints at the possibility of the budget iPhone.
