Apple is replacing batteries from "a very small number" of iPhone 6S smartphones

Apple is replacing the batteries of iPhone 6S devices because of randomly shutdowns. According to the company, this is not a widespread issue and limited to a serial number range for the devices manufactured between September and October 2015. Apple further detailed that the batteries cause these devices to unexpectedly shut down.It maybe seem like a deja vu feeling right after the Samsung Note 7 fiasco but the company detailed that this is not a safety issue. Instead, the device would simply shut down randomly as detailed on the Apple India support page. The company has detailed the replacement procedure where you need to head to the support page and submit the iPhone serial number in the column given on the website. This will let you know about the eligibility of your device for the replacement.Apple points out that you need to visit Apple Authorized Service Provider or Apple Retail Store for the replacement of the battery. The device will be examined to check the validity of the replacement program and if the device is in working condition or not. You need to ensure that your data is backed to iTunes or iCloud with 'Find my iPhone' turned off. Erase all your data and settings before handing over the phone for battery replacement.
