Apple iOS bugs: A three-finger tap is all you need to freeze an iPhone

Every new OS comes with bugs and this latest one relates to Apple’s iPhones running the latest version of iOS. The bug, very simple to activate, can freeze your device and force you to restart the  phone.

Once you know how to activate the bug, you can freeze any iPhone in seconds, but it wouldn’t have been easy to discover.

To freeze your phone, simply bring up the Control Panel and then tap on three different control rows simultaneously. We tapped the AirDrop, Night Shift and Calculator buttons and this was enough to freeze every iPhone we tested, including the iPhone 7 Plus.

The phone will freeze and either reset automatically or you’ll have to do it manually.

All the phones we tested were running iOS 10.3.1. We haven't tested the bug on iPads yet, but we assume that they will also be affected.

9to5Mac reports that the bug affects, at the very least, all iOS devices running iOS 10.2 and above.  The latest iOS 10.3.2 beta hasn’t fixed the bug either.

This isn’t a panic-inducing bug, however, and quite hard to accidentally trigger. It’s more likely for someone to do this to your device, or you to a friend’s device, as a prank.
