Android O could be called ‘Oatmeal Cookie’, source code mentions reveal

Google's newest operating system, Android O, could be called 'Oatmeal Cookie' instead of the rumoured 'Oreo', as per Android source code mentions. The capabilities and refinements of the latest operating system were revealed by the company at Google I/O 2017, the name, however, is left to be revealed.The internal source code, first spotted by Myce, show mentions of ‘oc-dev’ several occasions. While ‘oc-dev’ could stand for something else, it is rumoured to be 'Oatmeal cookie'. This presumption was made based on the phrase ‘oatmeal cookie’ having shown up on several slides used by the company at Google I/O in May.Several others also took to Twitter where 'Oatmeal Cookie' references were found in Google's I/O slides. It could, however, be only an internal codename and not the final name for Android 8.0.The version is currently in its third version of its developers' preview, with OTA updates released for the Google Nexus and Pixel series only. Android O promises a host of changes, the major ones being a new notification management utility called 'notification channels’ and faster application loading times.Smaller enhancements include picture-in-picture support and new machine learning capabilities. Visual tweaks in Android O include new adaptive application icons and improved font support.
