Android 4.3 brings native support for Hindi

Yesterday, at its Breakfast with Sundar Pichai event, Google took the covers off the latest version of Android, 4.3 Jelly Bean. The update may have been a minor one, but it has brought a whole lot of improvements and additions to the fore. While we've already discussed the improvements on Android 4.3, here's one interesting addition worth taking note of.

Android 4.3 brings native Hindi support

The native Hindi support on the updated OS is clearly exciting news for those who’d been on the lookout. Earlier this year in March, Google had released a Hindi input app to let Android users type in Hindi. The app works like a keyboard extension and once installed, users can choose to type in Hindi for just about everything. You can compose text messages, type email or even create word documents in Hindi. Your phone should be able to read Hindi characters for the app to work, so check for that before you download it.

The refreshed Nexus 7 will be the first device to get Android 4.3 out of the box, and other Nexus devices will be receiving the update OTA over the coming days. So, if you own the Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10 or Galaxy Nexus, then the update should be hitting your device soon.
