Amazon's Lab126 hardware unit is working on an Alexa-powered device featuring a touchscreen tablet-like computer screen. The device is internally known as Alexa "Knight" and is targetted to be used in the kitchen.Lab126 has previously worked on Fire Phone, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Kindle Fire, Amazon Echo and Tap speakers. This division is generally considered the most inventive in Amazon because of all the past success gathered by the hardware. Amazon has grand plans for Alexa Knight where they will move away from audio content and the limited interaction that Echo provided. This increased dependence on interfaces will provide users with more fine controls to Amazon Alexa than Amazon Echo previously did.Amazon aims at making the touch screen fully controllable through audio commands, this would make searching and browsing through webpages, images and videos possible without diverting from your current task while enabling easy multitasking. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the plans for Amazon "Knight" by mentioning the ability of users to use the touchscreen tablet "even when their hands are covered in flour."Rest of the details are unclear in terms of seamless integration with third-party applications such as the one Echo has with Dominos and Uber or any plans for visual apps. But Amazon "Knight" certainly will face competition while coming in market from Google Home, the upcoming competitor to Amazon Echo.
