The launch trailer for Mirror's Edge Catalyst is out, and it looks amazing

Mirror's Edge was a seminal first-person, free-running title that introduced parkour and movement to first-person gameplay. Smoothly and quickly navigating through maps using surroundings in creative ways was part of what made the original game so much fun. It was one of the few games to include animation for legs in the first-person view, which increased the immersion and involvement in a game built around free movement.https://twitter.com/mirrorsedge/status/735140097541177345The new trailer promises more of the same action, while leveraging the advances in technology since the launch of the original game. The linear storyline has been trashed for a vast, open world "City of Glass." The city is futuristic and beautiful. Faith is back, and Catalyst is a reboot, not a sequel. One of the big differences is the free roaming in the city. Missions can be cherry picked, so each playthrough has its own story progression path. There is a villain, and an interesting cast of support characters.The city itself has a character. It is a well-lit cyberpunk environment, a mashup of the environments from Blade Runner, Akira and Minority Report. There is a sub-site meant just to help gamers get familiar with the city. A new combat system that requires players to adapt their combat styles depending on the type of enemy encountered has also been included. The combat moves get an upgrade, with more martial arts added in, more points of contact, more movement, and a larger variety of moves to choose from. The music also seems to be upbeat and fun.The game is set to feature time-trials now, which are recorded speed runs through the maps. Players can design these speed runs in the city themselves, choosing where to place the checkpoints. Player profiles can be modified with the companion app or through the web site.  There is in-game augmented reality, but what we're really looking forward to is an augmented reality version of the game.Mirror's Edge Catalyst will launch on June 7 for US and June 9 for EU. The game will be launched on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, through Origin. Members who have subscribed to the Origin Access Program on PC and the EA Access program on the Xbox can play the game before anyone else, on June 2. The Play First trial allows for only six hours of gameplay. The time is tracked during gameplay, so it's not six hours after you start playing, it's for six hours worth of play. All progression made during the Play First trial, will carry over to the game when it launches.The game can be pre ordered on Origin for Rs 3,499. The pre-order will come with a speed-runner kit or a combat-runner kit.
