Hackers preview – an online multiplayer global cyberwarfare simulator for Android and iOS

Hackers is an online multiplayer cyberwar simulator, where you play as a hacker who has to execute intrusions, attacks and takedowns on enemy networks, and defend your home country from enemy strikes. The gameplay is similar to uplink with a multiplayer component added. The visuals and UI are an enhanced 3D version of the Plague Inc interface. Just like Plague Inc, there is a bar on top that scrolls funny news items. The jokes are shout outs to internet security and gaming phenomena. The game lets you dive deep into the dark web with a host of futuristic hacking tools at your disposal.The game is currently in Beta, and bound to get better before its unspecified release date. But it is pretty good already. The tutorial is pretty long, but gets you familiar with the 3D interface. Your home network has a bunch of technologies including firewalls, server farms, cryptocurrency miners, databases and the like. These can be upgraded, and new equipment can be purchased. There is gear for protecting the home network as well. For example, the sentry spreads an antivirus through the network and the guardian protects nearby nodes. The effectiveness of each component increases if it is connected to other components, and arranging the equipment in just the most optimum way is part of the fun.Offensive abilities are a a two step process. These virtual tools have to be first developed, which costs a one time fee, and then these tools have to be compiled before use. A compiled tool is a consumable resource, and you need to pay in game currency to compile every time. A regular attack uses an arsenal of compiled code. There are viruses and worms, but there are also totally unique and fun attack options available, including the ability to release the kraken.Building up the system, buying new equipment, developing and compiling programs all require the in game currency known as B-Coin. B-Coin can be mined and stored, but also can be earned by completing missions. Missions of higher complexity pay out more B-Coin.You progress through the game by taking on missions in four sectors - business, security, the black market and hacking. The multiplayer component allows you to attack other players, or participate in a global cyber war. The attacks on the networks have cool visual effects along the wires connecting the different nodes in a system.Hackers is coming soon to the App Store and the Play Store. The studio is mostly made up of AAA veterans who have worked on Mafia II and have previously released critically acclaimed atmospheric adventure title Hero of Many.
