Facebook invites gamers to apply for its new mobile game publishing platform

Facebook announced on Tuesday that it will be launching a new mobile games publishing platform for developers. This is being seen as part of a larger move on the part of the social network to boost its engagement on the mobile platform, as well as tap into the burgeoning gaming demographic.The program details were published on a page of Facebook’s developers website. According to the page, the new platform will “help small and medium-sized developers take their mobile games global.”[caption id="attachment_999683" align="alignleft" width="380"] Facebook. AFP[/caption]Also, the page says that Facebook will “work with select game developers and provide promotional support for their games in placements across our mobile apps.” The page also has an applications link where gamers can submit their information for consideration by the website.Facebook will initially partner with 10 developers from around the world to build games, including Gameloft and Gamevil."There are many developers with awesome mobile games who don't yet have the upfront resources for a paid strategy, and we want to help them find a path to success," Facebook software engineer Victor Medeiros said in a blog post.
