Pro Kabaddi Player Auction: Pawan Sehrawat breaks own record, goes for 2.60 crores to Telugu Titans

Pawan Sehrawat was the most expensive buy at the Pro Kabaddi auction in Mumbai on Monday. He was snapped up for ₹2.60 crore by Telugu Titans ahead of the tenth season of the league. Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh came through as the most expensive foreign player bought for a whopping ₹2.35 by Puneri Paltan.Chiyaneh, who was part of the silver medal winning Iranian team at the Asian Games, witnessed intense bidding from U Mumba, Gujarat Giants, Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans. He was eventually picked up by Puneri Paltan for ₹2.35 crore as Patna Pirates, his former team, did not exercise their right of Final Bid Match (FBM). The card allows a players' former team to match the bidding price and regain their services."We needed someone on the left. We came with the mindset of picking him up at the auctions, Puneri Paltan coach BC Ramesh told the media.Maninder Singh, meanwhile, returned to the Bengal Warriors after the franchise utilised their FBM card to match Telugu Titans' bid of ₹2.12 crore.Iranian players were in significant demand on the day with legendary Fazel Atrachali going to Gujarat Giants for ₹1.6 crore. He maintained his tag of being the most expensive defender in PKL history.Meanwhile, Atrachali's compatriot Mohammad Esmaeil Nabibakhsh was acquired by the Gujarat Giants for ₹22 lakh.The player auction also witnessed the 1 crore club go from one member to five with all of Pawan Sehrawat, Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, Maninder Singh, Fazel Atrachali and Siddharth Desai breaching the milestone figure.A total of 23 players were sold to the 12 franchises with as many as six FBM cards being used on the first day of the auction.The two-day auction began witnessed both Indian and overseas players up for grabs, from categories A and B. The auctions for categories C and D will take place on Tuesday.A total of 137 matches will be played in PKL 10.
