Paris becomes 4th city to join race for 2024 Olympic Games

Paris: The French Olympic Committee has announced that Paris is bidding for the 2024 Summer Games.[caption id="attachment_1813005" align="alignleft" width="380"] Reuters[/caption]The bid announcement was made Tuesday at the headquarters of the national committee.The French capital joins Rome, Boston and Hamburg as declared bidders. Budapest is also expected to enter the race.Paris bid chairman Bernard Lapassett says "our goal to host the 2024 Games will excite, unite and enthuse the people of Paris, our entire nation and lovers of Olympic and Paralympic sport all over the world."The deadline for submission of bids is Sept. 15. The IOC will select the host city in 2017.Paris hosted the Olympics in 1900 and 1924. It bid unsuccessfully for the 1992, 2008 and 2012 Games.AP
