England full-back Djed Spence appeared to skip shaking hands with Ghana's Thomas Partey before the kick-off in the Group L clash between the two teams, which eventually ended in a goalless draw in Boston.

England and Ghana both had the chance to seal a berth in the Round of 32 of the World Cup with a win but the game ended in a stalemate with no side being able to score. While England's struggles were the prime highlight from the game, the incident before the match also gathered a lot of attention on social media.

Spence snubs Partey

The on-air coverage of the match did not show all the handshakes between the players before the match. However, fans on social media pointed out that Spence appeared to have totally snubbed Partey while players from both sides were engaging in customary handshakes ahead of the start of the game.

Other England players were seen shaking hands with Partey who is currently charged with multiple cases of rape and sexual assault. Partey was also booed by fans during the match.

Partey denies seven charges of rape and one of sexual assault. The allegations have reportedly come from four different women between 2020 and 2022. Partey will stand trial for these charges next year. His arrival to the World Cup was also delayed after Canada refused to grant him entry. US authorities have allowed him to play in the United States.

England frustrated

England just could not find a way to score against a defensively solid Ghana team which played the game deep in their half. Apart from a few chances late in the game, England hardly troubled the Ghana goalkeeper in any significant manner.

Captain Harry Kane also struggled to get the ball and late in the game he missed a massive chance in front of the goal. The result means England and Ghana are now tied on four points with their groupmates Croatia and Panama due to play later on Tuesday.
