PM Modi condoles danseuse Sitara Devi's death, her funeral to be held on 27 Nov

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday condoled the death of eminent Kathak danseuse Sitara Devi."PM has condoled the passing away of noted Kathak dancer Sitara Devi. IBN Live.[/caption]Sitara Devi, 94, died early Tuesday in Mumbai after prolonged illness. She is survived by a son and a daughter.A recipient of prestigious awards like Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman, she was born Dhannolakshmi in the family of Brahmin 'kathakar' Sukhdev Maharaj in Kolkata in 1920.Her funeral is set to take place on Thursday morning, her son-in-law said."Her funeral will take place Thursday morning. We are waiting for her son who has gone abroad for a show," Rajesh Mishra, the son-in-law of the 94-year-old danseuse, told IANS.Sitara Devi was earlier admitted to the Cumballa Hill Hospital and Heart Institute and was later shifted to Jaslok hospital. She is survived by a son and a daughter.
