Hospital's Christmas surprise : Newborns go home in red stockings!

We've all grown up believing that Santa gives you Chirstmas gifts in a stocking. But guess who were the recipients of the best stocking stuffer this year?Parents of babies born at a Pittsburgh hospital on 25 December.According to a report in ABC News, the nurses of the Magee-Women’s Hospital at the University of Pittsburgh put the babies in bright red stockings and parents spending their first Christmas at UPMC get the stockings and hand-knit red hats as souvenirs.[caption id="attachment_2016399" align="alignleft" width="380"] Image from Twitter[/caption]The nurses have a longstanding tradition of sending home all of the babies born on Christmas day in stockings.Known as the "Magee Knitters", the group started in September 2014 with a mission to make caps for the newborn babies at the hospital, said a Facebook post by the group.According to Daily Mail, other hospitals around the country have also adopted the tradition, including Kettering Medical Center in Ohio, which has been popping tots into stockings for the last 20 years.  In Albuqurque, New Mexico, the Presbyterian Hospital has been sending babies home in stockings for 36 years.We must admit, this is a lovely gesture!
