Watch: Bid to derail Vande Bharat train in Rajasthan foiled

In a shocking incident, a Vande Bharat Express train en route to Jaipur from Udaipur had a close save from a possible derailment due to concrete and rods placed right on the track. The incident came to light after a video of railway officers inspecting the situation of the track, surfaced online, raising outrage among public. It appeared as a deliberate attempt to cause a catastrophic accident. Railway authorities reported that the tragedy was averted by the driver and loco pilot’s attentiveness as they timely saw the hindrance and stopped the train.A statement from the North-Western Railway PRO reads, “Train No 20979 Vande Bharat Udaipur-Jaipur stopped at KM no 158/18, 158/19 in Gangarar-Soniyana section. The stoppage was due to the placing of some ballast on the track and of two rods, of one feet each, in the joggle plate on the said Km. The incident occured at around 09:55 hrs in the jurisdiction of RPF/post/Bhilwara. The location comes under the jurisdiction of SHO/Gangarar in Chittaurgarh district”. It further added, “The spot was visited by DSC/Ajmer, IPF/Bhilwara, PWI/Gangarar, local Police and GRP officials. DSC/Ajmer has apprised SP/Chittaurgarh. RPF is registering a case under Railways Act. PWI/Gangarar is also giving FIR to SHO/Gangarar”.
